Marvin Bagley III

End of Season
Stats & Review

PROFILE: 6-foot-11 center/forward, 23 years old, 4 NBA seasons

DID YOU KNOW?: Bagley is the grandson of Jumpin’ Joe Caldwell, whose 11-year pro career began in the NBA with the Pistons in 1964. Some of Caldwell’s best years came in the ABA with the Carolina Cougars, but he was a two-time NBA All-Star with Atlanta in 1969 and ’70 and then a two-time ABA All-Star with Carolina in 1971 and ’73. Caldwell averaged 10.7 points in 99 games for the Pistons, who took him with the second overall pick – just as his grandson would be the second overall pick 54 years later. The Pistons traded Caldwell, a star at Arizona State and one of the leading scorers on the United States Olympic gold medalist team in 1964, to St. Louis for John Barnhill in December 1965. Caldwell averaged 15.2 points a game over seven NBA seasons with a high of 21.1 in 1969-70, his last before jumping to the rival ABA, where he averaged 17.5 points a game over five seasons.
