Our Mission

The Detroit Pistons Foundation is committed to making a lasting impact in the Detroit community by supporting established organizations in Metro Detroit who share our values and goals. Through strategic partnerships and targeted funding with local organizations, the Foundation has a meaningful impact in four key areas: education and mentoring, health and fitness, and youth leadership and development.

About Us

In 2016, Detroit Pistons Owner Tom Gores, Vice Chairman Arn Tellem, and the Detroit Pistons Foundation began a strategic campaign to maximize the Pistons charitable impact by connecting with key community organizations to create an open dialogue and an opportunity for the Pistons organization listen to and learn from Detroiters who understand the needs of the various Detroit communities and the barriers in place that prevent Detroiters from meeting those needs.

Pistons Assist

Pistons Assist allows individuals to round up their concession stand purchases at Pistons home games, contributing to the Detroit Pistons Foundation and supporting our community. This initiative helps make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Neighbors Program

The Detroit Pistons Foundation, in partnership with the City of Detroit, the William Davidson Foundation, and the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation, launched the Neighbors Program in the summer of 2019. This initiative is an extension of the Pistons' "Basketball for All" program, which has successfully renovated 60 basketball courts and donated 90,000 basketballs to local youth. The Neighbors Program encourages residents to enjoy their public parks and outdoor spaces by offering free activities for the whole family. The program will host events in Detroit parks each summer from June to August. Click the link to view the schedule and see if the Pistons Neighbors Program is coming to your park!
